IMG MGMT: The Nine Eyes of Google Street View

13 Aug 2009 by céline

People have seen, or maybe not, Google’s army of hybrid street eye view documenting our world, our cities. This series of photos found on Art Fag City are Google street view photos like an augmented Diane Arbus. It’s fascinating! We are talking of something beyond photojournalism, what Cartier-Bresson calls “real life reportage” or street photography”, Google Street View is capturing the world like a hidden camera. The truth in these captures is vibrant, and the reality is beyond what we’ve known so far as documentary images.

Cartier-Bresson goes global, brainless, serendipitous. And yet there are a million “decisive moments” per hour, and the google car-army ends up flashing a few.
